Ocean Is Home: Survival Island Cheats – Tips and Strategy Guides
This game may be a bit tricky for beginners. You will be on Harbor Island when you start the game. Here is the basic guide summary.
There’s two essential resouces where you can get easily around the island: Wood (chopping tree with your knife) and stone (chopping rock with your knife). To use your knife, simply open the inventory/ backpack and drag the knife to the function bar which locates at the bottom of the screen. Click on the knife until you can see it holding in your hand. With woods and stones, you can craft the essential tools for living: Well (to get freshwater), Campfire (to grill meat/fish) and Furnace (to craft advance resouces).
To survive, you will need food and freshwater. There’s 3 ways you can get food from:
Hunting is simply the easiest and most efficient. Rabbits and deers are the safest preys to start with. Remember to turn the paw button red on the top of the screen before hunting for auto-targeting. All animals give Meat (for food after grilling in the campfire), Cloth (for crafting) and Fat (for lamp fuel). Don’t get close to dangerous Bears and Boars, you should only hunt them if you have a gun. (Bow is not effective either) Later when you gather wood and stone, you can craft better advance weapon like hammer.
2) Growing your own vegetables
You can get seeds from air drop (which happens when planes pass by the island every few game days) or from the green loots in the brick houses in Loots Island. You’ll need to craft a garden bed from earth (Get from hitting a stone with your knife). Put the crafted garden bed to the bottom of the screen to use. Double click until it’s not red anymore. Growing vegetables take 3-12hr so don’t rely on it as your main food source. Veges doesn’t give a lot of energy like meat and it takes a lot of time.
You need to craft a fishing rod first to start fishing, or you may get it for free from shop. No bait is needed. Briefly dive into the shallow water to locate the fish, then tap your fishing rod (making sure it’s at your bottom of the screen) until a bar with a red square shows up. When fish comes close, the red square will move to the right. When it becomes green in the middle of the bar, click the ‘sword’ button to obtain the fish. Fish doesn’t give a lot of energy like meat and fishing does need effort.
To get fresh water, you need to gather wood and stone to craft a well. Click ‘hand’ to open it after you place it somewhere. To refill your bottles, put the empty bottles to the top slot of the well then click ‘refill bottle’. Thre refilled will then show up at the bottom. You may drink water directly from the well as well.
To cook meat or fish, use a campfire, which you can craft from 5 woods. Drag it from the inventory to the function bar, click it to place it somewhere. Put your cursor on the fire pit and click ‘hand’ to open it. You need to put wood on one of the 2 slots on top of campfire to start a fire then you may put food on top while products will show up at the bottom slot. 1 wood cooks 1 meat. Cooking process takes few seconds.
To craft different kinds of tools and stuffs, you will need a furnace:
Metal ore> Metal fragment, Silica sand > Glass fragment, Sulphur ore > Sulphur, Clay > Brick
You can get all thes elements from hitting rocks. To start the furnace, same as campfire, you need to make a fire first with wood. Three elements can be heated at the same time (cos one slot is used for wood). Furnace doesn’t cook food.
Traveling to other islands is pretty easy in this game, put your cursor on the boat where you can see when starting the game and click ‘hand’. A map will show up, simply click on other islands then it will bring you there in second. Going to Shelter Island is for free, where you can get a lot of bottled water and food on the beach. To go to Loot island, you’ll need two bottles of water and two grilled meats as a ticket for a single trip.
To increase your storage, craft a inventory box from 30 woods. Use it at the function bar and open it. This gray box will sit at where you place it and it doesn’t come with you when you go. When your inventory is full, all new objects will drop to the ground. To pick it up, you need to clear up some space in your inventory first by dumping some rubbish. Put cursor on the object and click ‘hand’ button to pick up.
The truck in Harbor Island locates 2 minutes from where you start. Just keep walking along the beach to the left when you are facing the land. Gasoline for running the car can be obtained from the green loots in the brick houses at Loots Island.
Hard to explain by word. Here is a video that show you how to get a truck in two minutes. Hope it will help. Sorry for the bad quality video.
Building house is no rush. You may do it after you travel all three islands to choose the best one to settle down. Building a house is pretty straight forward so you may explore yourself. To relocate furnitures, put the cursors on the object and hold ‘hand’ button for few seconds until it jumps up.
